Step number 2
Step 2--AVOID PROCRASTINATION. This is REALLY hard to do when you've got something you really don't want to do but really have to do looming in your path, and you KNOW that all the obvious forks in the road (while they might lead to other worthwhile, practical, or entertaining goals) are just your way of avoiding that big monster in your path. Unfortunately, your brain (well, MY brain anyway) can become cunningly adept at sidestepping the monster while still avoiding all the practical yet obviously "procrastination" projects. What does this all mean? It means that given a seemingly insurmountable monster to vanquish in front of you, and surrounded by projects that you won't allow yourself to tackle, since you know that by doing so you're just avoiding your monster, your brain will still find a way to avoid getting ANY practical thing done (Stargate Atlantis fanfiction, YouTube videos, emptying the dishwasher, doing the dishes, sorting your kids' toys, load upon load of laundry) hoping that your monster will get bored and lope away to hinder someone else. It doesn't work that way bucko! Tenacious buggers, these monsters!
And oh, I am chipping away at my monster, but I could've gotten so much more done if my little brain hadn't been so damned sneaky!
