Step number 1

Give yourself downtime!!! This is top of the list on the way to creative recovery! How can you create anything if you are exhausted? For those who are constantly on the go, constantly doing doing doing...how can you pull anything new from yourself if you're too busy to take anything in?

Ideas...

I've been so so so incredibly busy with far more things than my little brain could handle for far too long, and I'm fairly sure that it's taken its toll on my sanity. I've been far too cranky, always anxious, easily angred, and far from happy for any length of time. It's time to relax--or rather, it's time to allow myself to relax a bit. I need to be re-energized before I can go on to do anything else. I used to be a fun and creative person. I need to find that person again.

Since I have a long commute and haven't had time to read or watch anything lately, I've been really getting into podcasts. You can download any of about a billion different "internet radio shows" that any Joe Average can put together. These are famous people, like The Barenaked Ladies and Penn Jillette. These are my idols, like They Might Be Giants. These are other Geeks and Mommies like me, as found on Geek Fu Action Grip and the Manic Mommies. I listen to podcasts about parenting, science fiction news, science discoveries, career hunting, Photoshop techniques, writing technique advice, yoga lifestyles...kinda an eclectic mix. One thing I keep looking looking for that I have not been able to find is a podcast about creative recovery. How do you feed and nurture your inner creative person? I need a kind of an audio Julia Cameron's Artist's Way, which I have not been able to find.

Well...what you cannot find, you can create, right?

Necessity is the mother of invention, and so begins the idea...why not do my own creative recovery cast. If it's my own audio blog, or whatever it morphs into, I can throw on a science corner section or something, which has little to do with creative recovery, but makes me happy which could influence my creative recovery, right?

I dunno...I'm still working out the bugs. I figure I can start by writing about it and seeing if it works on paper first.

Bah-de-bah-de-bah-de...uh...y'know...that thingie...

Hey, all.
Back at work after a good weekend. Got to see an old buddy. Boy, are my intelligent conversation skills rusty! Too much talking to the preschool set and being interrupted every 10 seconds. I'm not used to focusing my speech centers on one topic for that long anymore! I'm sure the cell phone with lousy reception quality doesn't help either. Recovery begins now! Gotta go find a grown up to gab at for a while! :)
